Custom Excerpts for Blog Posts

Hi There,

I found this code in the entry.php template which is preventing us from being able to write a custom excerpt: <?php echo wp_kses_post(minti_custom_excerpt(30)); ?>

I do not want to modify this code, instead I’d like to filter it in the child theme’s functions.php file but not sure how. Can somebody please let me know what to write in the functions.php file so that the excerpt field found on the WP Dashboard while editing a post actually works?
