Hide Elements

I would like to hide a column from tablet/phone view, but as I have seen previous comments this VC element has been disabled and you use Bootstrap. I have noted the following response to another support ticket:

We use the visual composer plugin as a framework to add our own elements and modifications to it. The row and columns elements are our own elements. You can easily hide/show different columns by adding one of the bootstrap visibility classes in the custom class field. http://v4-alpha.getbootstrap.com/layout/responsive-utilities/

However i have taken the visibility class and added to the only field I can find – Extra Class Name – and this doesn’t work so am i in the wrong place? Please provide an idiot guide…
