Portfolio Layout Issue

Phil,
I just ran into an issue with the portfolio display. Until now I always used the portfolio elements in the full-width sections. Today, I tried to add the portfolio element to a column. When viewing the page I see that despite the portfolio element added to the 3/4 column, it actually takes the whole width as if the row has only one full-width column. Example:

On this page, the right 1/4 column is taken by the sidebar, however the portfolio extends to this sidebar column regardless. Below is a snapshot of the page in the backend:

Is there a way to force it to stay within the column where it was added?
