Using Font Awesome 5 Kit

We updated to Font Awesome 5 by installing a “kit” which pulls in the most recent icons. It works well in most respects, pulling in the basic version of each icon. However, occasionally there is an icon that will not work with the theme. For example, fa-cotton-bureau. In this case, when I input the name of “fa-cotton-bureau” the theme updates the name to “fa fa-cotton-bureau” when it needs to be “fab fa-cotton-bureau”. If I change the source code manually in the browser to “fab fa-cotton-bureau” the icon renders just fine, but that isn’t a permanent fix for the site. Is there a means whereby I can selectively manipulate the icon prefix from “fa” to “fab”, “fas”, “far”, “fal”, or “fad”?
