Breadcrumbs

Probably missing a step here but i have switched breadcrumbs on in the settings. In the navigation, my structure is products>product 1>sub page of product. Sub page is associated with the product 1 page as being its parent, these are all set up as individual pages. For some reason the breadcrumbs isnt showing up? Can you advise if there is something else I should be doing?

Also is there a way to switch the breadcrumbs on some pages but not all? i.e if i only wanted the breadcrumbs to show in the subpage for example?
