Mobile Responsiveness Padding

Hi,
As I begin to build another site using this great theme, I continue to run into the problem of padding when the desktop version is scaled down to mobile. In the past I have duplicated each element and turned one on for desktop and one on for mobile only and in the mobile version have adjusted the padding and what is showing accordingly. Is there a better way to set parameters for mobile other than what I’ve previously done, I’m not a pro coder so I’m sure there is something to call out in some CSS?
